This is another opportunity for outstanding earning potential. Working on yachts is definitely a hard slog but offers the candidate a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Confident and energetic people are highly suited to positions such as chefs, deckhands, engineers and beauticians. You will need to do a few courses to ready yourself but when you are looking at a sunset over the Caribbean, you will know it was worth it!

| Applicant requirements | A good level of English and an excellent customer service attitude is vital. You must be ready for hard work as you’ll be on call 24 hours during peak times, and may have no days off for 2 months. Applicants need to be discreet, disciplined, presentable, confident and be able to swim. Applicants must also be between 18-35 for deckhands and stewardesses. Chefs, skippers and engineers can be older, but you’ll need to come with experience. |

| Cost of course | Courses range in price from R3500 (for STCW), from 3900 (for stewardess) and from R7900 (for basic deckhand). |
| Expected earnings | Even at level entry positions, you’ll be earning excellent money right away. Typically stewardesses and deckhands start at $2500-$3000 per month (tax free) and this can rise quickly as skills and experience are gained. Senior stewards can earn from $5000 per month, chefs from $7000 per month and First Mates from $9000 per month. Remember that with no real cost of living this is money in the bank! On top of your salary, you’ll often earn excellent tips too. |
