Winter work experience
It’s all about the powder…snow, that is! Experience something different while working at one of the outstanding ski resorts across the United States. There is a whole range of jobs available at ski resorts from ski lift operators to working at the ski rental shops. And when you have time off, you can hit the slopes for free! Ideal for anyone who wants something a little different from the norm, who enjoys meeting new people and loves the snow!

| Applicant requirements | Applicants MUST BE full time tertiary students at an accredited college or university and aged between 18-28. Non-South Africans are eligible so long as they hold a study permit for South Africa. |
| Application process | Attend an Information Session, Apply online, pay your application deposit and then be interviewed. Application deposits are refunded in full if not accepted. |
| Cost of programme | Application Deposit R1500, Program Fees R3800 plus R1600 |
| Expected earnings | Between $5-6 per hour (tipped position), $9 - $18 per hour (non-tipped position). |
| Cost of living | You’ll need start up costs of between $700-$1000 since you will need to cover the cost of your own accommodation, housing deposits, food and travel until you receive your first pay cheque. Selected resorts may supply accommodation. Most resorts have staff canteens and discounts. |
| Flight subsidy | None |
| Friends travelling together | Yes! The more, the merrier! |
| Travel after work | For up to 30 days after job completion if you’re a graduate. However most students head back to start varsity in February |
| Will I be met on arrival | Generally not but you’ll be advised on travel arrangements |
| Visa | J1 - Work Travel visa allowing work over the period of the university / college summer vacation break period. |
