The Shanghai Mansions was like being transported to old school China. It was a little oasis of calm in the craziness of Bangkok. This hotel is a world away from backpackers or the 'hangover' experience of Bangkok, which is great for the budget but style conscious traveller wanting an authenic experience.

The hotel is very unique, right in the heart of China Town. The breakfast buffet was really tasty and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel in a heart beat.

The room was lush and the hotel is on the main street of Chinatown, so perfect for if you want to try the street food Bangkok has to offer, which is yummy (highly recommend R & L Seafood just down from the hotel).

Shanghai Inn is a beautiful and unusual hotel inside. We stayed in a suite which was lovely! The restaurant was average food-wise, although in the evening there was a good quality live jazz band. The best thing would be the decor and attitude of the reception staff. Also, the cleaners filled a bath and put rose petals in when they realised it was our honeymoon - very sweet!
