Cancer in teens

Around 150 per million children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 15. Partly due to lack of knowledge, of those diagnosed most are in late stages, which leads to longer treatment, more disabilities and a lower survival rate. This can drastically improve with more knowledge shared about the disease.

WHO IS CHOC?

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation aims to provide the best possible support for children and teenagers with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders and their families. CHOC’s holistic approach includes emotional support in the hospital wards, from diagnosis onwards, and practical support ranging from accommodation, transport, care bags and basic nutritional support. Without CHOC’s support, many children and teenagers – particularly from low-income families living far from treatment centres, would not be able to access, or adhere to, the necessary but arduous treatment cycle, which can last over three years. CHOC also advocates on behalf of those whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer through awareness campaigns and lobbying.
