Following the rules

While on the road and at the airport, you may be asked to take extra precautions. For example, to wear a mask on an aircraft or on public transport, or to take a COVID-19 test at a border crossing. Please do not be offended. Respecting these local laws will help to keep you safe. Plus, it is this collective effort that is allowing us to start to travel and explore the world again.

Staying in good health

Just as at home, there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 when you are abroad. We ask all our travellers to be responsible, and only travel if you are in good health. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised that people over a certain age or those with underlying conditions may be at a greater risk, so please follow medical advice before travelling.

Taking responsibility

In these changed times, we all have a responsibility to keep ourselves and each other safe. We ask all our travellers to adhere to the personal hygiene practices recommended by government health authorities and the WHO. For example, guidance on hand washing, the use of hand sanitiser, and ensuring that you carry enough face masks and gloves for your trip.

GET ONE DATE OR DESTINATION CHANGE ON NEW BOOKINGS:
  • This is applicable to all new bookings made.
  • Permits 1 change pre departure with STA Travel change fee waived. This means you can amend your dates and or destinations once collectively.
  • Difference in airfare and applicable taxes as a result of the change are required to be collected. Changes to services provided by tour, accommodation & other travel providers are as per the supplier booking terms and conditions and any subsequent cost increases are required to be collected.
  • Offer is only available on FlexiFARE and FlexiPACKAGE trips only.

 

Exclusions:

  • Name changes are not permitted
  • Change of airfare other than STA Travel’s Exclusive FlexiFARE/Blue Ticket, change of FlexiTOUR tour supplier, change of accommodation supplier other than the STA Travel’s selected accommodation options
  • You can only use this offer to make a change to your booking once
  • You cannot use this change offer on cancellations
  • Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer
  • Voucher cannot be redeemed online, only by contacting our call centre

 

FLIGHT DEPOSITS:

FlexiFARE

Deposits are available on selected flights if booking more than 60 days prior to departure. Deposits start from R1,000 (which depends on your airfare selected).

All deposits are payable at the time of booking and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Upon receipt of the deposit, the price of your ticket will be guaranteed.

Full payment is due 60 days prior to your scheduled departure date.

If you cancel the Deposit agreement or fail to make the final payment, STA Travel will charge the non-refundable deposit and cancel the flight booking.

PACKAGE DEPOSITS:

FlexiPACKAGE

The FlexiPACKAGE deposit is available when a booking is made which contains both a flight that qualifies for the flight deposit and eligible accommodation. Deposits required to secure your trip is equal to 10% of total per person trip cost.

Both products must be booked at the same time and the booking must be made more than 60 days prior to departure. The flight must meet all of the criteria required for the flight deposit (see T&Cs for FlexiFARE).

All deposits are payable at the time of booking and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Upon receipt of the deposit, your booking will be fully confirmed, and flight tickets will be issued to guarantee the price.

Any non-flight and non-accommodation products, such as Travel Insurance, ISIC Card, Rail Passes etc cannot be held using book now pay later.

Full payment is due 60 days prior to your scheduled departure date. Failure to make payment will result in your booking being cancelled and the deposit will remain non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a new booking.

TOUR DEPOSITS:

FlexiTOUR

Deposits are available on selected 3rd party touring suppliers, when booking more than 60 days prior to departure.

Any tour available for FlexiTOUR requires a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit that is payable at time of booking. All deposits are per person, per tour. Deposit amounts can differ for each tour supplier and will be confirmed within the individual supplier terms and conditions at time of booking.

Selected tour suppliers have a minimum spend required to be able to apply a deposit. Upon receipt of the deposit your tour space and the price will be confirmed.

Once the deposit is paid, any changes to the tour component is as per the supplier booking terms and conditions and any subsequent increase in tour cost, pre/post accommodation and transfers are required to be collected.

Full payment is due latest 60 days prior to your scheduled departure date. Failure to make payment will result in your booking being cancelled and the deposit will remain non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a new booking.

Re-booking will be subject to the price of the product(s) at the time of re-booking. The original price and availability cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellation of the tour will result in loss of deposit, with the exception of G Adventures (Lifetime deposit) and Contiki (FlexDeposit).

 

Additional Information about tours from specific suppliers:

Contiki – FlexDeposit starting from R 1,000: Your deposit (excluding flights and any additional deposits) can be used as credit towards booking a new Contiki trip. The original deposit refers to tour deposit only and excludes any additional deposits such as Inca Trail, or flights. The amount allowed to be redeemed is equal to the original deposit amount paid. Only one deposit amount can be credited per trip, they cannot be combined, however multiple trips can be booked using multiple FlexDeposits. Valid on all Contiki trips 7 days or longer. Credit is valid until you turn 36 (subject to availability). The deposit can also be gifted to family or friends within 5 years of the original booking. FlexDeposit has no cash value and is non-refundable. FlexDeposit is not combinable with New Release Deals or Last-Minute Deals (LMD) within 120 days of original travel date. FlexDeposit only applies to full priced deposits (not promotional low deposits). All other conditions not mentioned in this section continue to apply as described in the general T&Cs for FlexiTOUR.

 

G Adventures - Lifetime Deposit starting from R 1,000: If the booking is cancelled and that cancellation is not a result of non-payment or any other breach of the agreed terms, the deposit amount is going to be held as a “Lifetime Deposit” with G Adventure, the following terms apply. Your deposit is protected for life and may be applied towards payment of a deposit on another G Adventures tour (of equal or greater value, but not to the same or similar dates of travel). Alternatively, you can gift it to someone else to use. The deposit has no cash value and only one Lifetime Deposit may be applied per person per product booked. All other conditions not mentioned in this section continue to apply as described in the general T&Cs for FlexiTOUR.

 

Busabout - Flex-Deposit starting from R 1,000: If you need to cancel for whatever reason, where written confirmation is received from you or your authorized Agent with minimum 60 days’ notice prior to your confirmed or nominated departure date, your deposit value will remain secure with the Operator or your authorized agent (as originally booked) until you are ready to use it against another trip. Flex-deposits can only be credited to with a tour value greater than R2,000, and from trips with a tour value greater than R2,000. One deposit amount can be credited per trip. Deposits cannot be combined or applied to existing bookings. No refund of the deposit will be applicable.
