Vodkatrain - Russia, Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan

Vodkatrain brings together young travellers from all around the world to travel through some unique and interesting destinations on routes less travelled. You’ll be travelling with the locals along the Trans Siberian, Mongolian or Silk Road Railways and will enjoy the services of a local Honcho at each stop. Whether you’re on a gap year, taking a career break or just looking for adventure, you’ll have some new friends to share the experiences on the way.

Vodkatrain is a great combination of independent backpacking and small group travel at affordable do-ityourself prices, with some priceless info from their local legends thrown in. Vodkatrain is there to act as your support network, helping you with visa support, paperwork and taking care of your accommodation, transport and transfers so that you can sit back and enjoy the ride. They have a team of friendly local partners in each of the destinations so you’re never entirely alone.


This is the classic Trans Mongolian journey. Visit all the best places from Russia’s ‘Venice of the North’ through to electrifying Beijing. You’ll live with the nomads in Mongolia and party in quirky Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy a dip in Lake Baikal after a few nights on the train and absorb fascinating history in Moscow or while strolling along the Great Wall.
14 days - MOSCOW > BEIJING
Just because you are a bit tight on time it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a Trans Mongolian Adventure. Delve into history in Moscow, experience traditional Mongolian hospitality at a ger camp and try exotic delicacies at the Beijing night markets. Hit three countries and do all this in two weeks - that’s what we call an adventure!
23 days - MOSCOW > BEIJING

See and do more on this once-in-a lifetime adventure. You’ll have stops in the unusual and interesting destinations of Suzdal and Ulan Ude and spend more time in Mongolia enabling you to travel to the remote ancient capital of GenghisKhan. In the summer you can even enjoy some included extras!
12 days - MOSCOW > BEIJING
If you want an iconic Trans Mongolian journey whilst watching your roubles this is the journey for you. Be prepared to travel in low season (that means less tourists) and in a lower grade of train compartment on the longest journey in order to take advantage of this money-saving adventure. It might be thrifty but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the good times!
17 days - MOSCOW > BEIJING
Think snow, big furry Moscow hats, temperatures well below zero, oh and probably some vodka too! The Ruski Huski is a special winter itinerary that apart from the usual basics also includes some added value winter activities such as dog sledding in Siberia and a Mongolian cookery class.
18 days - MOSCOW > BEIJING
Traverse deserts and mountains, exploring part of the fabled old Silk Road. Visit the caravanserai of Old Turkestan where tea, silk and spices were traded. Back then they would travel by camel, today you can see it all by train. Marvel at the architecture of Registan Square in Samarkand whilst enjoying a plate of plov and some shashlyk.
